Hopi Ear Candles

Also known as Thermal Auricular Ear Therapy.

Ear candles, as the name suggests the candles are placed in the clients ears first one side then the other.   Please do not go out to your local store and buy ordinary candles and stick them down your or somebody else's ears. This would cause you both a lot of pain. So would a client with a lot of hair spray on as this is fairly flammable. Be Careful.  Then candles used for this therapy are special in the fact that they are hollow tubes which form a chimney effect in the ear (some ear candles have little filters in them.) personally I use BOISUN purely because they are independently  tested,  and according to medical directive 93/42/EEC are medical products.  better to be safe than sorry.

Hopi  a American Indian people have historical connections with this therapy they are a spiritual people who believe in nature. instead of me rabbiting on about them look them up on the net. I find their way of life most interesting..

When I did my course I wasn't sure what to expect candles and ears seemed a bit  dangerous to me. We didn't burn any bodies ears  on the day. Well I have said the candles works by a chimney effect.  In a bit more detail the chimney this with the movement of the flame cause a gently warm massage like effect on the ear. They help to sooth earache, headache , ear noise, Stress and nervousness some candles have aromatherapy aromas  combined in them. After the treatment a face massage working the pressure points of the face and ears)  may be given to the client to help promote relaxation.  Sometimes results are shown to the client should they wish to see what as come out of their ears. How ever if the ears are very dirty then it may take a hour or two after you have taken the candle out of the ear for the benefits to take effect (it has been known for this to take days to.)  The treatment can last around three quarters of an hour . After my treatment I noticed I had a small headache this was just down to the face clearing the impurities out
